Haven't Met You Yet
'You can take the boy out of Scotland
but you can't take Scotland out of the boy.'
With an Irish / Scottish / English name I had the great fortune to be born in Kirkcaldy in 'Bonnie Scotland'.
There is a local story of a man who met another Fifer and said "Give me your hand - where do you come from?"
On hearing the reply "Kirkcaldy" he said "Well give me your other hand."
It really is a friendly place - my cousin says that she never talks to strangers when she is out for her morning walk in the south of England but she can't make good time for talking to the locals.
I get my (Scottish) middle name from my mother's family who originally came from the island of Islay via Ayrshire in the west of Scotland.
